The Boomer Generation Is Concerned about Aging Parents

Recent studies examining the attitudes and concerns of the Boomer Generation who have at least one parent still alive show:

An incredible majority (94%) of feel strongly that it’s key to the overall health of the senior parent to “age in place”. Nearly 80% are worried about their parent’s ability to “age in place” and 57% are very troubled their parents won’t be able to.
82% of those polled are afraid of their parents being mistreated while staying in a nursing home while nearly 90% fear the experience of actually being in a nursing facility will increase the loss of independence for the senior parent.
Almost 80% of the Boomer Generation claim they’re concerned their parents will not like living in a nursing facility and 70% feel the experience of moving out of the home will frighten their parent.
The health of the senior parent is a major concern (77%) shared by all Boomers polled; Three quarters expressed deep concerns for the potential of falls and injuries to their senior parents and more than half (58%) worry about their parents behind the wheel of a car.
The majority of Boomers feel the care of their senior parents will not be a burden to them. In fact, 51% report they’re prepared to support their senior parents financially.
